Third Grade

Welcome to third grade—a year full of curiosity, growth, and new adventures! At Emerald Trail, our third graders dive into learning with energy and excitement as they strengthen problem-solving skills, take on more responsibility, and develop a growth mindset.
Through inquiry-based learning and a mix of whole-group, small-group, guided, and independent activities, students explore concepts in meaningful and engaging ways. In math, a hands-on, multi-strategy approach helps deepen understanding while embracing mistakes as valuable learning opportunities.

We begin the year by building a strong classroom community—one rooted in kindness, flexibility, and safety—that supports learning all year long. Students will also embark on exciting explorations in science and social studies, discovering the solar system, animal adaptations, ancient civilizations, and the movement of sound and light.
